Somerset Community College 'Fruit of the Lens Photography Club' 2013 Photo Contest ~ this year's theme is “It’s Easy to Be Green: Exploring Nature’s Colors

Going green shows a commitment to becoming more environmentally friendly. Going green is also the way to make sure your photo is included in Somerset Community College’s photography club contest.

Contest Guidelines:


All submitted entries must:


• Follow “It’s Easy to Be Green: Exploring Nature’s Colors”  theme. To promote the theme, each entry must include the color green somewhere in the image.
• Each submission needs to be approximately one megabite in size, and contain no watermarks, names or time stamps. Professional photographers cannot enter and photos manipulated in programs such as Photoshop will be disqualified. (Normal image adjustments are perfectly acceptable.) 

• MUST be submitted by deadline. Submissions will be accepted until Friday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. 

• Besides including something green, submitted photos should have been taken in south-central Kentucky. 

• Each person entering may submit up to three images and there is no age limit. Fruit of the Lens members who enter the contest will not be eligible to take part in the judging. 

Note: Only photos that meet guidelines will be entered in the contest.


Please submit images using the following format: 

• Images should be a .jpg or .jpeg
Each submission needs to be approximately one megabite in size

How to submit a photo

Email your entries to fruitofthelens@gmail.com. Subject line for each entry should be “Spring Photo Contest” and email should contain a name for the photo and contact information of the photographer.

Money raised by SCC’s PRIDE club will be used for first ($50), second ($25), and third ($15) place prizes. There will also be certificates of honorabl mention.    

Winners will be notified and recognized at SCC/East Kentucky PRIDE Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 21st from 1pm to 5pm. The celebration will be held at SCC's Somerset Campus. There is no admission charge for this unique event and everyone is invited to attend!

By submitting a photo, entrant agrees to grant to Lakecumberlandliving.com a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, limited license to reproduce, distribute, display submission(s) and create derivative works of the entries in connection with the contest and promotion of the contest, in any media now or hereafter known. Entrants continue to own or otherwise control all rights to submission(s).

The photograph must not, in the sole discretion of the staff of Lakecumberlandliving.com, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content. Lakecumberlandliving.com reserves the right to deny entry to any entrant for any reason.
